Therapeutic And Adventure Education

Recreation has been shown to play an integral role in maintaining physical and mental health and improving one’s quality of life. Physical and wellness activities are incorporated throughout daily programming at both River’s Edge Campus and River Bend Place to allow youth to remain active while improving skills related to teamwork, communication and self-efficacy. Providing an opportunity to explore new interests and activities, youth are encouraged to participate in the planning of daily activities.

In addition to a variety of supervised activities such as mini golf, movies and sporting events, all youth in care have access to River’s Edge Campus’ 863 acres featuring a spring-fed pond, over 2.5 miles of river frontage, farm land, woods and prairie. This provides a calming backdrop for recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, team sports, and adventure education utilizing both a high and low ropes course.
