Step 1: Reach Out
You can fill out an information request on our website (norriscenter.org/course/tfc), email us at tfc@norriscenter.org, or give us a call at 262-222-2000. We’ll answer your questions and schedule an initial conversation.
Step 2: Attend Orientation
We offer regular orientation sessions (in-person and virtual) where you’ll learn about the foster care system, our agency’s mission, and what to expect as a foster parent. Check out our upcoming information meetings- https://www.norriscenter.org/events/
Step 3: Apply
We will mail or deliver the paperwork necessary to apply. If you have any questions along the way, one of our staff members will be available to assist you with your application.
Step 4: Joint Assessment and Training
You will complete foundational training in trauma-informed care, child development, and behavior management. During this time, a licensing specialist will visit your home, interview household members, and ensure your environment meets all safety and care standards, including required screenings, background checks, and references to support the well-being of the children in your care.
Step 5: Final Licensing Approval
Once all steps are complete, a final licensing decision will be made, and if approved, a license will be issued.
Step 6: Placement and Connections
Norris agency staff will work with you during the matching process. Once an appropriate match has been made, the first meeting with the child and family occurs.
Connecting Families. Changing Lives. Connections Matter.
