Employee Spotlight: Amanda Streno, Residential Care Specialist

Authored by: Leslie Griger, Residential Care Specialist

How long have you worked at Norris and in what positions?

I have worked at Norris for 6 months.  I started in the role of Residential Care Specialist (RCS) and still in that role.

What is your favorite Norris memory?

When one of the boys and I won 3rd place at the Burger Cook Off.  That was such a FUN day

What is your favorite song of all time?

My favorite song of all time is A Milli by Lil Wayne because I can rap the entire thing.

What was the last gift that you gave to someone?

I bought my fiance, Brandon, a new Carhartt jacket over the weekend. I got it at Sierra Trading Post for a great deal!

What were you like in high school?

I was very athletic in high school, I played softball and basketball. I was also very social and hung out with friends a lot. We also took a lot of road trips to places like Chicago and the Dells!

If you received enough money to never need to work again, what would you spend your time doing?

I would open my own bakery. I love to bake ever since I baked with my dad when I was younger! Actually, we still make cookies together every Christmas!

What is your favorite food to prepare (or eat)?

My favorite food to eat is chicken alfredo. I don’t have a favorite food to prepare because I suck at cooking and hate doing it.

When was the last time you traveled somewhere new?

Last year I went to Nashville for New Year’s Eve, it was a lot of fun!

How do you spend your free time?

I really like taking my dogs to the Waukesha County Parks and taking workout classes!

What is your most useless talent?

I can touch my tongue to my nose.

Who would play you in the Lifetime original movie of your teen years?

I would choose Dolly Parton to play me because she has lots of fun.

What is the best advice that you have been given from staff when you started working here?

Don’t take things too personally. I know this is a really common one to say, but it’s 100% true.

What would be your best advice for new staff at Norris?

Always come with a positive attitude because the boys really pick up on that!

What are you most proud of personally and professionally?

I got engaged this past 4th of July because it’s one of my favorite holidays!
