How long have you worked at Norris and in what positions?
I’ve worked at Norris for almost a year. It will officially be a year on June 1st. I started as a second shift Youth Care Specialist and then switched to first shift in September.
What is your favorite Norris memory?
I don’t necessarily have a specific moment, however seeing youth progress in their treatment is a great part of this job. It’s nice to see them applying what they learn to their lives.
What is your favorite song of all time?
Needle in the Hay by Elliot Smith
What was the last gift that you gave to someone?
I gave my girlfriend a Tyler Children’s vinyl
What were you like in high school?
I was pretty shy and reserved in high school. That being said, once someone got to know me well I was quite the jokester.
If you received enough money to never need to work again, what would you spend your time doing?
I would spend a lot of time travelling, I would like to go to every country. I also would love to summit every mountain peak. In addition to that, I would donate money to Alzheimer’s research.
What is your favorite food to prepare (or eat)?
I enjoy making breakfast foods, specifically omelettes.
When was the last time you traveled somewhere new?
I travelled to Marquette Michigan (in the UP) with some friends. We rented an AirBnB and played cards and games.
How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy exercising and interacting with my dog (Clyde) and my cat (Bonnie). I also like spending time with my girlfriend, watching my siblings compete in high school sporting events and playing Unstable Unicorns. Other than that, I love being outdoors, hiking is probably my favorite outdoor activity.
What is your most useless talent?
Three card monty-a sleight of hand card trick
Who would play you in the Lifetime original movie of your teen years?
I think it would be Ryan Gosling.
What is the best advice that you have been given from staff when you started working here?
Hear the youth and really listen to them and the needs they are trying to communicate. Do the best you can.
What would be your best advice for new staff at Norris?
Take the time to get to know the kids, at first it might feel overwhelming. Go at your own speed and be patient with the kids.
What is the last thing that you’ve done that’s worth remembering?
I visited some national parks out west!
