Please welcome Norris in saying CONGRATULATIONS to Rick Carter on being chosen as our December Employee Spotlight Winner!! Thank you, Rick, for bringing so much energy and compassion to our team!
How long have you worked at Norris and in what positions?
I have been at Norris for 3 months and I am a RCS.

Youth canoeing on the pond and Thanksgiving at the pavilion. One of the youth ate so much he fell asleep on the couch for an hour, woke up and asked where dessert was.
What is your favorite song of all time?
PYT – Michael Jackson
What was the last gift that you gave to someone?
Bought my wife dancing lessons for the two of us at Fred Astaire.
What were you like in high school?
I was 2 feet shorter and going through a transition while in high school but I grew into myself and had a pleasant experience.
If you received enough money to never need to work again, what would you spend your time doing?
Be in the outdoor hiking, vacationing and helping others and probably adopt.
What is your favorite food to prepare (or eat)?
Omelets
When was the last time you traveled somewhere new?
Arizona a month ago, enjoyed the experience.
How do you spend your free time?

Who would play you in the Lifetime original movie of your teen years?
Greg Welliger – From everybody hates Chris
What is the best advice that you have been given from staff when you started working here?
Someone told me that just because a youth is acting out doesn’t make you any less good or effective at your job. Our youth are dealing with things from their past that we are helping them through.
What would be your best advice for new staff at Norris?
I would pass the advice given to me: It is a process, each youth is different. You never learn it all as it is a learning experience.
What is the last thing that you’ve done that’s worth remembering?
Saying see ya later and a kiss to my wife and daughters each day as I leave the house.
Thank you again Rick for your great work with our youth at Norris! If you would like to work alongside great people like Rick, please visit the “Join Our Team” page for current openings.
